1. i Light Singapore 2024
Nature-themed light installations at Marina Bay & Tanjong Pagar

i Light Singapore is back and the theme we got this year is “Cyclical Nature”, with an emphasis on the colour green. Anticipate light installations around Tanjong Pagar, Guoco Tower, and Orchid Hotel. There’ll also be inflatable flowers flowing in the dark at Tras Link Park for ethereal photo opportunities.
Additionally, there’ll be food vendors from GastroBeats, so you can look forward to a spread of delicious yums again. Think Yaca Pibil Tacos from Papi’s Tacos and Mumbai Pav Buns from The Curry Club – that’s all we’re spoiling, head down and find out more for yourself.

2. small MUJI exhibition – Enjoying Everyday Items

MUJI is having an exhibition that features miniature works by well-known Japanese artist Tatsuya Tanaka. If you don’t know him by now, Tatsuya Tanaka is popular for his miniature works which use everyday objects to reenact cute little day-to-day life scenarios.
This time round, he worked with MUJI items to create his miniature world. Look forward to 16 original works – some of which include familiar Singaporean landmarks such as Gardens by the Bay and Marina Bay Sandsl. There’s also a Talk Event and Autograph Session with the Japanese artist but unfortunately, all tickets have been sold out.

3. Rollermania 2024
Forest-themed skating rink with White Rabbit pop-up cafe

It’s time to put your skates on and start skating at Rollermania 2024, which features a 4,000sqft rink donned with IG-worthy set-ups if you’re looking to snap pics for the ‘Gram. Don’t worry if you aren’t familiar with skating as they have a 15-minute Rapid Skater Course ($15) that’ll teach you what you need to know to have a skatetastic rolling time.
They also offer a Pro Skater Course ($360) that runs across 8 weeks for those looking to get into skating seriously. Don’t worry if you don’t own a pair of skates, as rentals are included as part of your admission ticket.
After all that skating, treat yourself to a variety of sweets and desserts at Singapore’s first White Rabbit Cafe – yes, the same White Rabbit sweet that every Singaporean would know. There’s also a line-up of arcade games and claw machines starting from $1 each if you’re up for some games.

4. Tulipmania & “Northern Lights” at Gardens by the Bay

If you’ve always wanted to catch the Northern Lights, this is your chance to do so – right here in Singapore. Utilising cloud machines and 30 lasers, the immersive light installation showcases the “aurora” dancing around the Supertree Grove at Gardens by the Bay.
To add more vibes to the place, there’ll also be a soundtrack by French composer Guillaume Desbois playing in the background. The installation takes place on Mondays from 8pm-8.30pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 9pm-9.30pm. Plus, admission is free.
10th edition with windmill & farming decor

Another attraction at Gardens by the Bay this year is Tulipmania, which is back for its 10th edition. This year’s will be similar to its first one in 2013, with rows of tulips alongside traditional windmills and modern farming technology.
Whether you’re a fan of tulips or not, the place is still worth a visit for its IG-worthy photo spots and its overall atmosphere. Plus, you wouldn’t want to feel FOMO, right?
5. Singapore HeritageFest 2024
Tour of the last Malay kampung in Singapore

If you’re feeling a little reminiscent of the past, join the Singapore HeritageFest on their cultural tour to Singapore’s very last Malay kampung. And it’s not the one at Buangkok, but rather, Pulau Ubin.
The group will gather at Changi Point Ferry Terminal first before setting off to Pulau Ubin. Look forward to finding out more about what makes a traditional Malay Kampung and a little on the island itself. You’ll be getting all the information first-hand from the very people who live right there in the village of Pulau Ubin.

6. Swan Lake
Featuring Mariinsky’s Former soloists

Whether you’re a fan of ballet or not, you would have definitely have heard of Swan Lake before. This May, the St. Petersburg National Ballet Theatre from Russia is coming to Singapore to perform the classic Ballet masterpiece. Expect the best of the best – from the ballet dancers, costumes, to even the props.
The performance will be carried out in 2 acts and 4 scenes, lasting around 2-3 hours long.

7. Floral inflatables outside ION Orchard

For more floral light installations, head down to ION Orchard. It’s been transformed into a wonderland with a larger-than-life-sized art installation featuring extinct or endangered flowers. The exhibition by Australian artist Amanda Parer is aptly named “Lost in Enchantment”, heavily inspired by the classic book Alice: Lost in Wonderland.
Admission is completely free and the installation will only be around till 9 June, so be sure to head down this month.

8. Star Wars Day & Frida Forever at the ArtScience Museum
Free film screenings & photo opportunities with movie characters

To celebrate Star Wars Day on 4th May, look forward to film screenings at the ArtScience Museum. This includes Season of the Force, a film which gives you a peek into the thought process behind George Lucas – the creator of Star Wars himself – as well as pre-recorded introductions by renowned film critic and writer, Jedd Jong.
There’ll also be a lineup of fan art projections as well as a Star Wars Toy Display which features toys from 1977. You’ll also have the opportunity to snap a pic with your favourite characters like the Stormtroopers while you’re there. Admission is free, but you’ll be required to pre-book due to limited capacity. May the 4th be with you.

VR experience & immersive exhibitions on the iconic Mexican artist

For those who are artsy, head down to the ArtScience Museum for Frida Forever which features the life of renowned Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. Aside from exhibitions and film screenings, there’s also the Exquisite Corpse VR Experience that provides a sneak peek into Frida’s mind. One thing to note is that the VR experience is only for those aged 11 and above.
But if you want to entertain your kiddos, head to Floral Passage, a tribute piece to Frida by a Singaporean-based Mexican artist, Lidia Riveros. Look forward to the aesthetic floral arch installation, a perfect spot for you to snap IG-worthy pics. Besides that, there’ll also be a ticketed Opening Symposium and guided tours of the exhibition available.
9. Polymer Clay Earring Workshop
Unique bonding activity for Mother’s Day

Besides being a cute little bonding activity with your family or loved ones, all the proceeds of the Polymer Clay Earring Workshop goes to Mai Tam House of Hope, a home for underprivileged children in Vietnam. The workshop is organised by a group of passionate youths and taught by Esther, who runs a small home-based business selling handmade jewellery.
Fret not if you have no prior experience of making earrings as this workshop is suitable for all skill levels and ages. All materials will be provided and you’ll be able to bring your very own pair of handmade earrings home. There are limited slots available, so it’ll be the fastest fingers first.
